School & Library Vote Extended!

You have received a postage prepaid absentee ballot that includes the Schoharie Free Library’s proposition. The Schoharie Central School vote has been extended to June 16 FOR MAIL IN BALLOTS ONLY! The mailed ballots must be received by the District by 5pm on June 16th to be counted. Any mailed ballots postmarked on June 16th or before but not delivered to the district before 5pm on Tuesday June 16th will not count in the election.

The Schoharie Central School District budget vote for the 2020-21 fiscal year will be held on June 16th VIA ABSENTEE BALLOT due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. A proposition to increase the Schoharie Free Library Association’s annual budget by $10,000 per year is included on the school budget ballot. For most taxpayers, this tax increase is about the price of a medium size ice cream cone and will allow us to continue to provide programming for all residents of the school district.

During the COVID-19 emergency, the Schoharie Free Library continues to provide virtual programming via the internet, including our Friday morning Story Time. Many of our clubs and programs were converted into an on-line format so patrons could continue to participate. The library also provides internet access and e-books and magazines through Overdrive and we continue to offer free books on our porch.

The Library is getting ready to reopen and when we do, we plan to offer “curbside” pick up for books and a separate time for seniors and those who are immunocompromised to visit.
