2017 at The Library

Schoharie Free Library 2017 Annual Report to the Public

2017 was a year of change at the Schoharie Free Library.

Our Program Director Alyson Montione retired to move to Wales to attend graduate school (you must admit, going to another continent is a Big Change!);
Jennifer Mosher was hired to be our new Program Director;
our parking lot and driveway were redone from the bottom up, completing the repairs of damage caused by Hurricane Irene;
the original building was re-roofed, hopefully ending the attic leaks situation (both these major projects were made possible by a grant from the NYS Education Department Construction Program);
a new rug for the Play Area was purchased with a grant from the Foundation for Mohawk Valley Libraries;
the Annual Book Sale did not happen, but we did sign up for a green Better World Books drop box in the parking lot to accept used books;
we were approved for listing on both the New York State and the National Register of Historic Places;
we held a total of 140 programs which were attended by 1,674 people;
our inventory of 29,043 books, magazines, DVDs, audiobooks, electronic books, etc., includes 3,467 new items;
and
people made use of all those things by borrowing 19,099 items from here, including a robust circulation of 6,399 items to and from other libraries.

Can’t wait to see what 2018 brings!
