The public is allowed back in the Schoharie Library to borrow materials beginning at 11 am Monday August 24th!
Some highlights are: wearing a mask and social distancing is required, restrooms are temporarily closed to the public, only 3 of the public computers will be open and sessions will not be more than 15 minutes, and you are asked to not linger – the new saying is “Grab and Go!”

Borrowing books and other materials
    Books, magazines, CDs, CD-ROMs and audio books may be borrowed for 2 weeks. DVDS may be borrowed by adults only (age 16 and older) for 1 week.  The overdue fine for all materials is 10 cents a day to a maximum of $5.00 per item.  Materials may be renewed in person when the Library is open or 24 hours/day by calling the answering machine at 518-295-7127.  We will need to know your name and the item(s) you wish to renew.

Get a library card
    To get a bar-coded library card, fill out an application,  which is available at the Circulation Desk.  You will need  to show some form of photo ID, such as a valid driver’s license, and a piece of mail addressed to you at your current address.  The card is accepted at ALL MVLS/SALS libraries in the eight counties of the joint system, subject to that library’s rules and regulations.  Minimum age to be able to get a card is 5 years old.

  The fax machine is part of the phone/answering machine at the Circulation Desk.  The staff will send your fax for you while you wait.  Copy to be sent must be in a condition acceptable to the equipment, so if we have to make a copy, you will be charged for that copy.  Charges are:
Local number – $1.00     International – $5.00 per page
To receive a fax, use 518-295-7127 as the number.  Please alert the staff you expect an incoming fax.  We will NOT call you when it arrives; it is your responsibility to pick up your fax. Charge is $1.00/incoming.
The Library is not responsible for successful receipt by the destination fax, nor for and data or loss of data arising during the use of its fax equipment.

Remote Printing
     The Library now offers MOBILE PRINTING from any device that can send an email message.  The address is  The restrictions are: total of 10 attachments or less, total size of attachments not to exceed 10MB, uses one of the supported file types [HTML files, Image files (.bmp, .gif, .jpg, .png, .tiff), Microsoft Excel (.xls and .xlsx), Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt and .docx), Microsoft Word (.doc and .docx), PDF files, and Text files (.txt)], and is a document that can be edited.  The entire message AND attachments will print, so if you only want the attachments to print, send them as attachments to a blank email.  We charge 25 cents per page to print.

The library’s free wi-fi is non-passworded and is used at the patron’s
risk .  It is understood that wireless is an unsecured environment.
The Library is not responsible for patron’s equipment and will not
troubleshoot connectivity, etc.

Homebound Service
We have a Homebound Patrons program that was developed to replace the “Books by Mail” program.  For more information, please contact the Library for an information packet and application.

Checking Out
You can check out up to 4 titles. The lending period can vary from title to title. Your Cart will hold up to 5 titles at a time. Titles are removed from your Cart after 30 minutes so that other users can have the chance to check them out.
Returning & Renewing
   Some titles can be returned before they expire. Titles cannot be renewed, but you can check them out again after they expire if they are still available.
   Up to 5 titles can be placed on hold at one time. We’ll send you an email when a title becomes available. You have 3 days to check out your hold after we email
you a notice that it is available. You can cancel a hold by following these steps…
Login to your account.
Click the My Holds link.
Click a title’s Remove link to cancel the hold.
