COVID: The Schoharie Free Library is currently operating under COVID-safety protocols. The public is allowed in the building, providing they are not currently positive for COVID, not experiencing COVID symptoms, and have not been exposed to individuals with COVID over the past two weeks. Properly-worn masks and social distancing are required regardless of vaccination status. Borrowing books and other materials
Books, magazines, CDs, and audio books may be borrowed for 2 weeks. DVDS may be borrowed by adults only (age 16 and older) for 1 week. The overdue fine for all materials is 10 cents a day to a maximum of $5.00 per item. Materials may be renewed in person when the Library is open or 24 hours/day by calling the answering machine at 518-295-7127.  We will need to know your name and the item(s) you wish to renew.

Get a library card
Applications to get a library card are available at the library’s main desk. Applicants must show some form of photo ID, such as a valid driver’s license, and a piece of mail addressed to their current address. The card is accepted at ALL MVLS/SALS libraries in the eight counties of the joint system, subject to that library’s rules and regulations. Patrons between the ages of 5 and 15 may get a juvenile card.
